Since I started making wood eye glasses back in 2005, I have been doing everything all by myself. I mean, I have had a couple interns, but really my hands have been on every step of the process. That is, until now. At the end of 2010 I met a guy that I knew that I had to get to know. That was Shawn Stucky and since then not only have we become the greatest of friends, but also he has shown an interest in learning the art of wooden eyewear creation. And damn does he excel at it and all else he does in his life. In his own rights, he is an established fine artist and album cover designer here in Chicago but he still finds time to stop by occasionally and help me out. I guess I buy his beer some times, but that's just how we work. And beyond me just enjoying Shawn's company, his hands are as finesse as they come. I knew it the first time I told him to sand a practice temple that I gave him. There were a few scratches left over in it, but the next time it was flawless. I am a lucky man to have Shawn come around not only for his friendship but also the added hands he provides. And while Shawn helps out around here, his best work is really what his mind thinks of and creates. www.shawnstucky.com
